Rebecca Deming Rumpf, owner of Custom Interiors by Rebecca (www.CustomInteriorsByRebecca.com), began designing and sewing custom draperies in 1999. Rumpf soon found herself swamped with more sewing than she could keep up with even as clients were requesting more extensive design assistance in addition to their window treatments. Over the years, the business has evolved into a full-service interior design firm renowned for couture drapery design, fresh interpretations of traditional style, and outstanding client service.
Rumpf’s drapery designs have been featured in the online and print editions of Vision magazine. In 2006, Rumpf collaborated with Set Decorator Casey Hallenbeck for all of the draperies in the film Talladega Nights. Rumpf was awarded first place in the 2009 Dream Draper Before & After design competition, and was delighted to be selected as the winner of Helser Brothers’ essay competition and awarded a field blogging assignment at the 2010 Maison et Objet show in Paris, France. Although Rumpf no longer sews for clients, she remains an avid seamstress. Her hand quilting has appeared in Quilter’s Newsletter Magazine and her machine embroidered projects have won several contests. When not busy with design work or sewing, Rumpf can be found reading, baking, gardening, or blogging off-topic at www.CheekyCognoscenti.blogspot.com.
Rumpf holds a B.A. in History from Furman University with a concentration in French and Russian Revolutionary History, is an Associate Member of the Interior Design Society (IDS), a Member and Certified Window Treatment Consultant with the Window Coverings Association of America (WCAA), and an Associate member of Window Fashions Certified Professionals (WFCP). She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband and two small sons.
