We are seriously impressed with Dian Garbarini’s creative use of velcro tabs for outdoor draperies. Not only do they look really good, the tabs make a lot of sense outside where the wind is such a big factor.
With no pins to tear at the fabric, the sewn-on tab is secure and easy to install. Removal for washing or seasonal storage is also simple. And of course, Helser Brothers’ double rings are perfect to hold the tabs. Great work Dian!

The early reviews are in and the response is overwhelming! Helser Brothers and Jackie Von Tobel have created an alliance made in drapery hardware heaven. Clean and Classy, the Jackie Von Tobel Signature line is getting mega attention and it is all terrific.
We already had a fantastic relationship with Jackie spanning many years, so when she approached us about a JVT line the decision to collaborate was easy. I mean… Jackie Von Tobel is a big name in our little industry… and she wants to work with US! Needless to say, we were highly flattered. Mark and I said YES of course, though I think we actually said “hell yes!” or “helz yeah!” or some other exclamatory acceptance phrase.
Soon after the hand-shake and contract signing, we got to work. Jackie said that there were some gaping holes in the drapery hardware market. She told us that versatility was missing. She said that designers want clean lines, sharp angles, and rich simplicity. Mark and I are usually heavily involved in product design and have very strong opinions about the aesthetic aspects of the products that we manufacture, but this time we chose to completely relinquish that part of the process to Jackie.
So you ask, what was it like working with Jackie Von Tobel? We knew that Jackie was a hard worker with scary talent and a smokin’ reputation, and we knew that we liked her personally (pretty important), but it was not until we actually got to work that we realized how talented and hard working she really is! Ladies and gentlemen Jackie Von Tobel is an ultra-talented go-getter with mad design skills.
The amazing and enthusiastic reaction from our early release exhibitions has truly delighted us and it appears that we have officially “crushed it!” Surprised? Not us! Soon after signing up with Jackie we realized that we had forged an alliance with a true pro.

A little tip for you Tableaux fans out there is to use simple standoffs to squeeze some additional impact out of your Tableaux Traceries.
Tableaux With Standoffs
By adding a small projection to a surface-mounted Tableaux, a shadow is cast creating more depth and beauty.
If you want to crank the “wow factor” up to what we call the “helmets and smelling salts” realm, just add some art lighting which will sharpen the shadows.
The best part of this whole Tableaux standoff idea is that the stuff you need to make it happen can be found at the hardware store for just a few bucks. All you need are vinyl bushings and longer screws!
So there you have it…. Don’t say we never gave you nothin’.

There are very few chores I really detest. Dusting is absolutely number one on my list. Second has to be fighting with shower curtain clips way above my head to change or launder a shower curtain.
The recent trend toward creating custom draperies for the shower area leaves a question for curtain clip-o-phobes like me. How do we fasten both curtains to the same rod? What about decorative pleats? Isn’t two separate rods over the top in such a small space? 
And even in seldom used guest showers, the liner does need to be laundered or changed eventually.
When faced with this dilemma, we welded an eyelet to the front of our S-Hook. The formal drapery can be attached to the same hook as the liner. The eyelet can be welded anywhere on the S-hook the designer likes. The “s” on the rear side holds the liner which can be easily removed and replaced. Hmmm, that shower door may be on it’s way out!

Anyway, this line is a tribute to our most beloved medium, iron. It sounds sappy but that is how we truly feel, durnit. I guess after working with a material for so many years you either get tired of it or you love it more and more. Well we are absolutely head over heels for iron……downright twitterpatted (Bambi).
