These are my “innocent” sleeping grand dogs, Ace and Ludlow.
Ace, the wire fox terrier, races to my sewing machine when he hears me turn it on. He sits beside me waiting patiently for what he hopes will be a new squeaky toy falling from the sky.
I’ll admit it…I spoil them rotten.
Zoe is THE sweetest dog ever. We take her to doodle romps, she lays around in the doodle pose, which is on her back, all 4 legs flopped open. We are on the way to the lake now, she loves riding on the boat. I’m hoping she will learn to swim this summer !
This is our very gentle 13 year old dog “Ashes.” She is easily intimidated by bold cats and is very gentle with small animals. She was one of 13 pups who’s mother took off one weekend and obviously had a good time because it was quite a mixed litter. We think Ashes is a mix of beagle, retriever and shepherd.
Ashes has always loved sitting and sleeping on the stairs in my workroom and I could never figure out why she didn’t fall as she is definitely not a small dog. She is very proud to be the latest Hounds of Helser inductee!
Sincere thanks to Melissa Hunter of MW Hunter Custom Interiors in South Carolina for introducing us to your cute little dogs, Lilly is on the left and her husband, Horatio is on the right. The pretty girl holding them is Melissa’s daughter, Morgan.
We are real dog lovers here at HB. Send us a photo of yours, and you will receive one of our “I see drapery people” t-shirts!
Ralph Quinn, best friend of Heather Quinn and one of the original “hounds of Helser” spent the day with us on Friday. As you can see this big fella, at over 100 lb., needed an extra large “I see drapery people” t-shirt. He was so much fun that we have decided to implement “Hounds of Helser Fridays.” The Office staff will be taking turns bringing their pups to work for the day.
Please send a photo and a few lines about your pup to firstname.lastname@example.org! He or she will be honored with a “Hounds of Helser” blog post, and you will receive one of our “I see drapery people” t-shirts just for being a good sport.
Fans of the movie “The Last Mimzy” will be glad to know that the title character has a namesake alive and well in Scottsdale, AZ. Mimzy is a two year old Standard Poodle and the faithful sidekick of Elyse Risinger, owner of Arizona Custom Drapery Store & More. Elyse recently stopped by to pick up an order and graciously allowed us to snap some pix of Mimzy and his very favorite person.
Santa came early and brought “Josie” a 10 week old Shih-Tsu. She has brought tons of laughter into our home with her charming ways and is a fun addition to our family.
Ruby is a shy Sheltie and is 11 years old this month. She was a huge barker but has mellowed in her older years. Our other Sheltie, Peaches, passed away last fall and we thought we would immediately get another dog, but Ruby seems to enjoy her “only dog” status, so we have decided to wait. We found Peaches through the Houston Sheltie Sanctuary, which fosters rescued and found Shelties; they even let you have a “sleepover” with your potential new pet so that you can make sure your dogs get along well and that the dog is a good fit. We loved Peaches very much and we love the wonderful service that HSS provides also.
Zoey is a 5 year old pound puppy. She joined our family 2 years ago. She is very quiet unless provoked by another dog then she turns into the Tasmanian Devil. Zoey is great with our family and other pets. We have caught her howling at the full moon a few times. She used to have a funny little habit of taking little figurines out of the toy box and burying them in the back yard I’m not sure why she stopped doing this. She loves to chase tennis balls. When I pull in the driveway zoe is always sitting in the window next to the door smiling and wagging her tail. Her best friend is my son Talan.
A great client of ours, Charisse Marie Colbert of CMC Designs is head over heels for Romeo…
Lee at BJ Designs brings Maggie May who is named after the Rod Stewart song with him to pick up his hardware regularly.
There’s not much to say about Seven except that she is “special”. She has quite a few odd behaviors. Every morning, she waits until we get out the shower, then goes in for a “drink”. She constantly chases her tail and barks at it. She hates water, her head being touched, and being picked up. She drinks out of the pool and toilet constantly, avoiding the several water dishes laying around the house. She will cowar and bolt if she hears finger nail clippers. My two year old niece is confident when she points and states: “That’s a cow!” and she has a wart on her face…I supposed it’s a face only a mother could love.
Ralph is a 130lb, purebred, chocolate lab, and he’s about the size of a Shetland pony. Heather adopted him from a very nice family up in Union Hills area about 5 years ago. Ralph enjoys many strenuous activities such as napping on the couch, napping on his bed, and napping on Jim and Heather’s queen pillow top mattress. He is a professional at counter surfing for carbohydrates. From bread to bagels, pizza to pies, Ralph will make sure it never goes to waste!
Lizzie Rose and Mary Jane are the pampered pooches at Casa Boetsma. From home cooked food to slipping undetected into the bed, they are spoiled beyond rotten. We bought Lizzie as an eight-week old puppy and she has been a special dog from day one. She has attitude to spare and truly is “She who must be obeyed.” The “Chill Liz” command can buy only so much time before she gets what she’s after. Mary Jane is our rescue pup and has been a total sweetheart, shadowing us everywhere. She even tries to sit on our feet to keep us in place. They are true Boxers, half clown and half lover. We truly can’t imagine life without “the girls.”
This is “Six” our “Great Danish” we call her that because we rescued her from a local shelter and aren’t sure exactly what she is.
Six got her name because we consider her our sixth child in a way.
Her favorite thing is to take a few pieces of her food and scatter them on the patio to lure the birds which she then chases.
She has brought an enormous amount of joy and laughter to our home and we love her to death!
