We had our collective breath taken away this week by Mark and Catherine Schultz of Silk Mountain Creations in Indianapolis. The road from “Before” to “After” was paved with all of the elements of terrific design. A great concept, accurate measurements, a perfect template and beautiful craftsmanship (ours and theirs…) all combined to make this treatment drop dead gorgeous!
The before shot and Corbel detail show some of the challenges the Shultz’s had to work around. The client wanted the Corbels to be shown completely which left very little room for hardware.
As you can see, the hardware complements without overpowering the space and the panels are extravagantly luscious. Mark and Catherine estimate the weight of the center panels to be close to 100#!

STUNNING! ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!
Absolutely amazing!
The hardware and draperies are stunning. They met the client’s request and exceeded expectations. Fabulous work from both Helser Bros. and the workroom.
Over the top, in the very best way! Wonderful use of custom drapery rodding, the details are exquisite from the “dump” on the floor to the wide embroidered fabric banding. This exemplifies the perfect amount of excess and shows what a difference custom can make. Kudos to all involved. So, share the secret (that only Helser Brothers can do), are there little knobs on the rod to keep the rings from sliding down?
Those are truly amazing! Those windows were pretty before, but really became stunning with those drapes and rods!
Incredible!!! So very, very pretty. The precision, accuracy and design are some of the best I’ve seen. Congratulations to you both!
This is a very well designed solution for a stunning setting- great job!
Whoo, I first opened this page on my itouch, had to get out of bed to get on the desktop to getthe big picture!!Beautiful
Absolutely perfect planning on all parts. They are beautiful. Who would have thought you could improve on those windows/doors!
Wow ! That took a lot of planning and it shows. A very unique solution to very unique windows.
Absolutely, Positively STUNNING. And the banding and contrast fabric placements are dead on as far as scale. Great job!
The rings are welded in place. I’m not sure I’d trust that much weight to any other method. And I know Mark was very meticulous in planning the spacing.
WOW – that’s a challenge. The continuous curve almost gives the room a bit of an art nouveau feel. The bottom banding is fab! Of course the hardware isn’t too bad either!!!
Great job Mark and Cathy! and those Helser brothers sure know a thing or two as well! See, there really is more than corn in Indiana! (coming from a fellow Hoosier)
OMG — this is breathtaking!! This is a perfect example of the transformative power of custom draperies. Mark and Cathy’s design enhances the architecture of the space without overpowering it and brings so much excitement and drama that it almost doesn’t matter what else goes into this room. I also like that they chose to cut the panels straight across the top instead of doing an arched heading to follow the curve of the drapery rod, which makes the wide embroidered banding echo the curves at the top of the treatment. I’ll bet the client is euphoric!
Wow, absolutely stunning!
I can’t wait to share this idea with my WCAA group in Tennessee. Great way to treat the space. As Simon Cowell of American Idol would say, “THIS WINDOW TREATMENT HAS THE WOW FACTOR!”
